The Finance Department is currently seeking a Draftsperson 1. The successful candidate will be responsible for related duties such as; identifying and quantifying changes to civic infrastructure assets with the use of existing civil design drawings, in accordance with the City’s current Capital Asset policies. The successful candidate will also perform first level drafting, sketching, plotting, tracing and related work using standard drafting equipment, including AutoCAD. This position will also make elementary computations; perform clerical and statistical work and performs related work as required.
The ideal candidate should have knowledge of algebra, geometry, and trigonometry; some knowledge of elementary survey and drafting and engineering practices. The candidate should also have the ability to make arithmetic calculations accurately; be able to understand and execute oral and written instructions and the ability to perform elementary drafting tasks. Qualifications include completion of Grade 12 including drafting courses plus some related experience; OR an equivalent combination of training and experience. Graduation with a certification in a Drafting program from BCIT or a related education and some background in working with civil architectural design drawings is preferred.
