Database Administrator

Location: Calgary, Alberta

This individual will join the Technology team and will be responsible for the ongoing successful completion of Data Management related functions, and the timely development and delivery of database related solutions in support of projects within a given business unit.

• Convert system designs and technical specifications into program code
• Research problems discovered by Quality Analysts or Product Support and develop solutions. Analyze and troubleshoot existing complex program code and correct errors as required.
• Work with disparate clients to identify and implement data management processes
• Write SQL, PL/SQL and UNIX scripts to fulfill data management requirements
• Assist in planning logical and physical database architectures
• Install and configure database management systems
• Participate in project meetings to focus on and identify database requirements

Required Skills:
• Post secondary diploma or degree in a Computer Science or IT related field.
• Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) an asset
• Formal training in Oracle, PL/SQL, and data modeling
• 2-3 years of programming experience in a similar environment
• 2+ years experience as an Oracle Database Administrator in an Internet environment
• 2+ years knowledge of Oracle tools, stored procedures, triggers, tuning, backup and recovery, SQL abilities and PL/SQL.
• An ability to read/understand/interpret complex data models and PL/SQL code
• Convert system designs and technical specifications into program code
• Respond to all requests from project team, client users, project leads, and the Team Lead in a timely fashion
• Excellent communication (oral & written) skills
• Strong analytical and problem solving capabilities
