IT Supervisor

United Hydrocarbon International Corp. (“UHIC” or the “Company”) is a Canadian based, internationally focused oil and gas exploration and Development Company with oil and gas assets in Africa.Activity is focused in the Republic of Chad in central Africa, where the company has four blocks encompassing approximately 5.3 million acres, under one Production Sharing Contract.  The Company is focused on early-stage production from known oil discoveries in the Doba Basin with cash flow to be used on the Company’s contract area. The resource potential of the Doba Basin DOC/DOD and the Lake Chad Block provides the foundation for significant growth and value creation through exploration and development drilling.

Position Summary

Reporting functionally to the IT Superintendent in Ndjamena and in a line role to the Country Manager,  the IT Supervisor Chad will be the primary IT liaison for the field operation in Chad. The incumbent will oversee the day-to-day functions of the UHLC IT in the field location. The role requires the ability to prioritize, manage and report a deadline sensitive IT workload. The successful candidate will also be required to utilize his/her skills to provide assistance to the operations team in resolving technical IT problems.

IT Supervisor Responsibilities

  • Provide active support, systems planning and network implementation for all aspects of the company's IT systems including workstations, applications and telephony;
  • Liaise with and supervise the work performed by field IT technicians supporting the field operations;
  • Act and perform as a key member of the IT team providing leadership and guidance to the IT personnel;
  • Provide advanced technology expertise to PC support and troubleshooting, LAN, wifi access point, printers, VSAT, HF/VHF communications and radio based network
  • Manage issue resolution and clearly communicate cross-functional decisions, standards, and discussions to relevant parties;
  • Contribute to IT projects by defining requirements, managing scope and support staff;
  • Anticipate risks and issues and ensure appropriate actions are taken to mitigate and resolve them;
  • Perform other duties as required. 

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Thorough knowledge of computing principles and computer infrastructure deployment methodologies normally acquired through a university degree in computer science or a minimum of 7 seven years’ equivalent experience  and 3+ years managing IT projects including a successful track record as a team leader/manager implementing system upgrades;
  • Experience managing cloud solutions in Microsoft Office 365 including SharePoint Online, Exchange Online and Lync Online
  • Experience with business systems and ERP implementation and support of MS NAV;
  • Current Microsoft (e.g. MCSA, MCIPT/MCSE 2012) certification
  • Experience designing, deploying and supporting communications in TCP/IP networks (routing, switching), radio networks (HF, UHF) and satellite networks;
  • Experience administrating IT infrastructure and evaluating existing systems and developing technology roadmaps;
  • Must be detail-oriented, goal-driven and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a positive attitude; ability to thrive working both independently and in a team environment;
  • Solid understanding of technology and of oil & gas operations and priorities;
  • Strong team leadership and staff motivation skills;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Strong negotiating, interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Bilingualism—French and English (spoken and written);
