Leasehand

Location: Leduc, AB

Description

The Leasehand is responsible for keeping the rig site clean and performing general maintenance. Lease Hands also provide assistance to rig personnel as required, while gaining knowledge and experience of drilling rig equipment and systems. Safety is the first priority for all drilling rig personnel.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • General maintenance of drilling rig
  • Required to set up and take down rig
  • Cleaning rig to ensure it is free of debris
  • Painting drilling floor and general rig
  • Ensure usage of proper safety equipment
  • Ability to comply with company guidelines and work in a safe manner

Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to work safely and plan ahead
  • Ability to work in a team setting
  • Strong communication skills
  • Good organizational skills
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Manual dexterity
  • Ability to judge distance and spatial relationships

Education and Experience

  • This is an entry level position

Certifications and Licenses

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must possess valid H2S Alive Certification
  • Current IRP 16 Orientation
  • Valid WHIMIS Certification
  • Valid TDG Certification
  • Valid Fire Extinguisher training
  • Current Fit test for respiratory masks
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from site

Special Conditions of Employment

  • Must be able to complete a drug and alcohol test and obtain a “negative” result. (This test will be arranged by Horizon)
  • Must be able to complete and successfully pass a physical demands analysis test. (This test will be arranged by Horizon)
  • Must be able to lift up to 90 lbs.
  • Extreme weather conditions such as rain, heat/cold, and exposure to loud noises
  • Highly repetitious, fast paced work environment.
