This is a home based position – a minimum of 25% overnight travel is required.  Geographic preference is eastern or central (US) with close proximity to a major airport.

Job Summary:

The Key Account Manager will develop, implement and support strategic sales plans to achieve established sales and profitability goals.  The successful candidate will bring a proven ability to cultivate existing accounts as well as develop new business through a pro-active, determined approach to prospecting.  In specific, this position will:

  • Manage customer strategy and perform necessary duties to maximize profitable sales and sustainable growth within account responsibility.
  • Deliver solution-based sales presentations to key customers, while supporting the presentation efforts to secondary customer tier through manufacturer sales representatives or brokers.
  • Provide ongoing communication of promotional opportunities, new distribution objectives, brand and category direction and outstanding issues through regular reporting (internal/external).
  • Partner with brand, planning, marketing, finance and other internal departments to forecast business and develop customer/channel specific programs and promotions.
  • Manage merchandising strategies, ensuring best practices are in place while meeting established standards   Drive initiatives through partnerships with manufacturer representatives/brokers and distributor partners.


This position has the responsibility to develop and execute sales strategy and programs within the sales team.  This position requires the jobholder to maintain a high level of diplomacy, discretion and confidentiality.  This position is exposed to confidential information related to strategic initiatives undertaken by the Company. 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree and 2-3 years of successful and progressive selling experience.  Import and Seasonal experience not imperative, but helpful.
  • Proven National Accounts (Corporate level) and broker/rep network experience required.  Dollar channel experience & relationships are a plus.
  • Solid leadership ability with demonstrated success managing, cultivating and developing relationships. 
  • A Strategic approach to prospecting, with the ability to identify, navigate, qualify and close new business. 
  • Outstanding communication, presentation and listening skills; as well as the ability to act with diplomacy.
  • A pro-active, team player who thrives in a goal-oriented, dynamic and ever changing work environment.
  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office – especially Excel and Powerpoint.

Flexibility in work schedule is required including the ability to work extended hours, weekends, and holidays as operational need may require.   

Salary will be commensurate with skills and experience.  Compensation includes a performance based bonus plan payable at up to 20% of salary, a full benefits package that includes insurance coverage, 401(k) and career growth opportunities.
